Digital Artefact Ideas

“We need to talk” is a common phrase used to strike fear and anxiety into any member of the human race, however the equivalent for BCM112 students is “Digital Artefact”.

Despite there being a myriad of contexts in which these words can be used, when coupled together these words have the power to afflict panic even amongst its calmest audience (especially when one is not entirely sure what they are doing for their DA… definitely not speaking from personal experience).

Hence, in pursuance of creating a good DA I have brainstormed quite a few ideas.

YouTube:

  • Playlist and music review videos
  • Mythology videos
  • Movies and TV show commentary/review
  • Crime videos
  • Conspiracy theories
  • Advice videos
  • Mental health
  • Trying new stuff

Website:

  • Music review/playlists
  • Mythology
  • Movies and TV show commentary/review

Podcast:

  • Social issues
  • Commentary on movies or shows
  • History lesson
  • Mythology stories

In relation to monetisation each platform has its own avenue in which this can occur, however this opportunity would occur after an engaged and active audience is accumulated. Monetisation on YouTube can be in the form of AdSense or sponsorships, on a website sponsored posts or ads can bring in money, similarly podcasts can have sponsors or ads as well.

Quite a few of my ideas for my DA are transferable across various media platforms in order, to engage with a larger range of people within my target audience.

  1. I completely agree deciding on DA ideas is daunting, and a task most people don’t want to deal with. I think your YouTube idea relating to mental health would be a great choice as you could really help people in need and become someone they look to for guidance. I also think doing crime or conspiracy videos would be amazing as I am also obsessed and am constantly watching Netflix or YouTube videos on these topics. Goodluck!!
